The Custom Song Procedure
A. CONTACT US TO SIGN UP FOR A CUSTOM SONG.
Contact us by phone or email
to sign up for a custom song. When you contact us, we can answer
any questions you have.
B. FILL OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE.
After you've signed up for a custom song, we'll send you a questionnaire
for you to fill out and email back to us. The lyrics will be written
from scratch, based on your answers. The questions are a tool for
us to get to know the person(s) we're writing about. We don't simply
insert dates, names and minor details such as eye color and hair
color into an existing song. In fact, we've found the more personal
you get in your answers, the better we can write a song that will
capture the personality and spirit of the person featured in the
song. Feel free to tell us more than we ask for…the more information
you can provide the better sense we will have of the person(s) being
honored. Please provide pronunciation of names or places if unusual.
C. CHOOSE MUSIC.
We have lots of fabulous original music in a variety of styles that
you can choose from. Listen to samples of
available music.
Most of our songs are approximately 3 minutes in length. Though
the lyrics in the samples may be aimed at a different occasion than
your song, you can still get a sense of the mood and melody from
these samples. Please enter your song selection in the last line
of the questionnaire.
D. PAY THE DEPOSIT.
Go to our our Make Payments
page and click on the “Buy Now” button for the $75 deposit for United
States orders or $149 deposit for international orders. We must
receive your deposit before we start writing the lyrics for your
song. This deposit is fully refundable if you cancel the order before
our lyricists and composers have started writing the song. For example,
if your plans change and you no longer need the song, and you notify
us before we have started working on the song, you'll receive a
full refund of your deposit. However, if you decide to cancel the
order after we have started working on the song, a portion or all
of your deposit will be non-refundable, depending on how much time
we have spent on the project.
E. WE'LL START WORKING ON LYRICS.
When we receive your completed questionnaire and an indication that
you've paid your deposit, we'll start writing the lyrics for your
personalized song. We may contact you with some follow-up questions
that will help us write the perfect lyrics for your song.
F. SEND US ONE OR MORE PHOTOS.
If you have ordered the graphics package, you should send us a selection
of personal photos or other illustrations for use on the lyric sheet
and CD cover. These should be in jpg format, sent as attachments
to email messages. If you can't send them in jpg format, you can
mail us prints which we'll scan in, if there is enough lead-time
before you need the song.
G. WE'LL SEND YOU THE LYRICS FOR REVIEW.
After we've completed the first draft of the lyrics, we'll send
you the text of the lyrics for you to review.
H. SEND US YOUR FEEDBACK ABOUT THE LYRICS.
Review the lyrics and let us know if you want any revisions. If
you request any changes to the lyrics, we'll send you the revised
lyrics for review.
I. WE'LL SET UP A COMPLETE DEMO FOR YOUR REVIEW.
We'll set up a private web page with a recording of the song, along
with the designed lyric sheet, CD jacket cover and CD label, if
you ordered the graphics package.
J. REVIEW THE COMPLETE DEMO.
Let us know if you want to make any changes to appearance of the
lyric sheet, CD jacket cover or CD label.
K. PAY THE BALANCE DUE.
After you have okayed the final version of the song, lyric sheet,
CD jacket cover and CD label, pay the balance due for the song.
L. WE'LL DELIVER THE SONG TO YOU.
You have a choice of electronic delivery or shipping:
(a) If you request electronic delivery, we'll set up a private
web page where you can download an MP3 file of the song, along with
pdf files of the lyric sheet, CD jacket cover and CD label. You'll
burn the song to a CD yourself, using a computer application for
writing music CDs, and you'll print the lyric sheet, CD jacket and
CD label.
(b) If you request shipping, we'll create the music CD for
you with the personalized CD label and jacket cover, and we'll print
the lyric sheet on high-gloss paper. Then we'll ship the package
to you via U.S. Postal Service or FedEx. Note that extra time is
required if we create the CD and ship it to you.
PRICING: The fee for a Personalized song is $749,
if you choose electronic delivery.
Additional fees:
• GRAPHICS PACKAGE: For an additional
fee of $90, our graphic arts team will design an accompanying lyric
sheet, CD jacket cover and CD label, using photos you provide, supplemented
by our extensive graphics library. Most customers prefer to include
this graphics package, and the lyric sheets are often framed to
hang on the wall or placed in an album.
• PRODUCTION & SHIPPING: If you choose shipping instead
of electronic delivery, an additional processing, shipping and handling
fee starting at $65 US will apply. (Cost depends on destination
and shipping method.)
• EXTRA VERSES (LENGTHENING THE SONG): prices begin
at $50 per verse, which includes studio time to edit the music track.
• RUSH FEES: A rush charge of $25 per day will apply
if the order is received with fewer than 21 days notice for electronic
delivery (to any location), 28 days for CD shipments within the
US, and 35 days for CD shipments outside the U.S.
• OVERNIGHT SHIPPING FEE: An additional fee applies
if overnight shipping is required (at cost).
PAYMENT: The preferred method of payment is with credit card
or PayPal account at our Make
Payments page. Click on the appropriate “Buy Now” button for
your payment. Contact us if you would prefer to pay by an alternate
method such as check or money order.
